Takohatsu restaurant
Takohatu dining room (たこ初食堂) is located near Lawson, a convenience store, Lawson, in the Kataniwa area of Hamada. You can walk there in about 15 minutes from Hamada station. In this restaurant, you can enjoy Western food.
There are a lot of items on the menu; the volume is substantial and sure to satisfy. It’s not the kind of restaurant that tourists would visit. It’s the local ‘greasy spoon’ kind of place. So if you are looking for an authentic experience this is a good place to try but you probably need some Japanese language ability to read the menu and order.
The restaurant was built in 1943 and it has been in business for more than 60 years. Although the exterior and interior look old, it’s clean. It is said that in the past, there was Movie Theater near the restaurant and it was busy with customers who came to watch the movie. Now, a Lawson stands where the movie theater used to be. You can feel the atmosphere of the old Japan here.
You can eat most of the items on the menu for 1000 yen. This restaurant makes it own original demi-glace sauce. Takohatsu rice is also cooked to their original recipe and you can enjoy the simple taste of home cooking.
Some dishes are not served with rice. So, if you want to add rice, you have to pay another 150 yen. There many meat dishes such as fried meat or beef steak. This restaurant is a good place for who love meat!
