At 1126 metres, Mount Sanbe is one of the highest mountains in Shimane. It's great for hill-walking and camping. You can even do civilized 'Japanese-style camping' in cabins complete with kitchen, indoor bathroom, heating and air-conditioning. And if hiking up to 1126 metres seems too much, take the chair-lift to one of the peaks and enjoy a spectacular panorama. There's also a nature centre where visitors can learn more about local flora and fauna. There's even an onsen. And don't forget to try Sanbe Burgers, made with hamburger patties from local cattle.
